How I Work
This section outlines how I would work with you on your project from start to finish. It may be especially helpful if you’ve never worked with a voice artist before. Feel free to ask any questions during this process. I’ll be with you every step of the way and make sure the voiceover for your project is created on time, and in excellent quality.
My Studio or External Studio?
My time is divided between working from my personal studio and attending voiceover sessions in central London and the South East. If you’d like me to attend a studio of your choice please just call or email to discuss. See the Studio page for more information
Understanding your Project / Script
I’ll always start with a chat, via email or phone, to clarify exactly what you need from me, how and where you’ll use the recording, and how much input you want to have in getting your words off the page and into a finished audio format of your choice. At this stage its helpful if you can supply something as close as possible to a final version of the script since my rates are partly governed by the number of words in your script. All of this information will give me a good understanding of your project and allow me to provide an accurate quote. Before I begin recording, a final version of your script needs to be provided.
Script and Quotation
To request a quotation please email me and include the information listed below. For simplicity, my contact form has selectable dropdown lists showing the various options.
- Total Word Count of your Draft/Final Script
- Intended Use e.g. Broadcast, Corporate, Web, eLearning/Internal, Public exhibition, Other
- Your deadline and approximate budget
- Where you want me to record – Home Studio or External Studio.
- If you want me to supply RAW audio files or fully produced audio.

If you are unsure whether my voice is right for your project then please email me some of your script and I’ll happily send you a short sample. Please include details about the target audience, any specific pronunciation or accents and the style/tone of voiceover.
Remote Recording in Real-Time
If we’re working together via Source Connect Now, ipDTL, Session Link PRO, phone or Skype, an agreed session time will be scheduled. See the Studio page for more information on remote connection options. When you record remotely I will simultaneously record a safety backup in my studio. If requested, I will send the backup files over to you when the session is complete.
Self-Recording
If you’d like me to self-record, you’ll need to provide the final version of your script along with any direction you feel will be helpful. It’s also important to highlight unusual pronunciations e.g. Words not in English, complex medical terms etc. From this point you trust me to provide the best possible voiceover recording. Any subsequent script changes or alternative readings are charged pro-rata. If I make a mistake, I’ll rectify this promptly at no charge.
Raw Session File or Fully-Produced Audio ?
From the Self-Record session there are two choices in terms of the delivered audio.
- I can supply the Raw Session File so you can edit and produce the final audio yourself. In this case I may provide you with more than one take to give you some options. Radio and Television clients often like to work this way.
- I can do the editing and production at my Studio and send you a ready-to-use audio file in a format of your choice. The editing will include removal of breaths and the audio would typically be normalised to -1db or -3db. If requested, I send two versions of the edited file; One with EQ/Compression and one without any EQ/Compression.
Delivery and Payment
I frequently deliver the audio within 24 hours, depending on the length of your script. The most common delivery method is via Cloud Services such as Dropbox or WeTransfer.
Payment is via Bank Transfer or Paypal. For clients outside the UK – when Bank Transfer is chosen – I prefer payments made via www.Transferwise.com in order to minimise bank charges and obtain the mid-market exchange rate when funds are sent to my UK bank.
