ABOUT PETE EDMUNDS
A Professional British Voiceover Artist and Actor
A Professional British Voiceover Artist and Actor
Born of Anglo-Welsh parents, Pete Edmunds is originally from the North West of England. A skilful mimic, from an early age he was copying Television commercial voices to entertain family and friends. Pete’s first commercial voiceover recording, aged 6, is still sitting on an old reel-to-reel tape machine; his youthful take on ‘FLASH cleans baths without scratching‘, with a Scottish accent – the tag line from a FLASH TV advert.
Fast forward. With an engineering degree under his belt, he worked in IT for a few years before training as an actor at the prestigious Drama Studio London. This Acting course involved a full year of Voice Training, including accent and character coaching.
With a gift for voices, accents and impressions, his professional acting career was launched doing an impression of Terry Christian on a spoof of The Word for Channel 4. Since then, Pete has successfully run his Voiceover and Acting careers in parallel. He lives in South West London, delivering voiceover services direct to clients worldwide from his personal studio.
Pete’s prolific voice over work includes Commercials, Promos, Radio Drama, Corporate Films, Explainers, E-learning, Documentary and Historical Recordings.
Vocal Physiology: Drama Studio London voice coaches highlighted Pete’s vocal physiology, describing it as “very unusual – a deep resonant “chest voice” combined with a light resonant “head voice“. This gives Pete a unique sound which listeners find memorable – and if they remember the voice – they will remember your brand, product or message. Choose a distinctive British Voice for your next project.
Vocal Range: Pete will choose the right blend of “Chest” and “Head” sounds to suit your script. He’s equally comfortable recording deep, dramatic Documentaries, and light, conversational Explainers. See these projects:-
Voice Quality: Warm, Reassuring, Engaging, Versatile, Clear, Sincere, Friendly, Believable, Resonant, Soothing and Deep. Some say Sexy too! One producer described Pete’s voice, rather delightfully, as “Like a Brain Massage“. It’s been said his narrations inspire a measure of confidence and trust in the listener straight away.
Versatility: Pete has also demonstrated a huge range of other voices & accents; For the audio book Framed he narrated with a Liverpool accent and performed 60 character voices (men, women & children) with accents from all over the UK, one from the USA and even a comedic Polish dentist!
Pete has worked extensively in film & television, most notably as the regular character of Peter, the hapless deputy manager, in the British comedy series Hotel Getaway (ITV). Other television work includes Coronation Street, EastEnders, Blind Men, Expert Witness and The Human Zoo.
On film Pete recently acted alongside Toyah Willcox & Shirley Anne Field in the feel-good comedy feature The Power of Three. Prior to that he worked on a number of short films – playing The Newscaster in Car Stories by acclaimed Hungarian writer/director Krisztina Goda, the lead role of Tony in Killing Time by award-winning writer/director/producer Ed Whitmore and an emotionally charged performance as the co-lead of The Gardener in Lost Property by Isabelle Livingstone.
On the London stage Pete has appeared in several plays, earning glowing reviews for roles as diverse as a forensic pyschologist in Doomsday and a barfly in Time Out Critics’ Choice Blue Eyes Red.
He has also performed stand-up in London and his talent for comedy and improvisation has led to in-vision roles in TV adverts across the globe for brands such as Disney, Nissan and Amazon.
Alongside Pete’s acting and voiceover work, Fine Art Photography has been a great passion. Over the last six years, 45 images have been published by the curators at Vogue Italia (PhotoVogue), 4 at the BBC website and 5 photographs have been selected for curated collections at Saatchi Art. In 2015 Pete had his first solo exhibition at Putney Library, London, UK. For more information see www.peteedmunds.com.
